GOVT INCREASES RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- has increased the relief food distribution to affected districts from 100 metric tonnes to 200.Minister in the Office of the Vice President Olipa Phiri says the move is meant to meet the growing demand for relief food.Ms. Phiri said this in Nyimba District when she flagged off distribution of relief food for Eastern Province.The minister assured that no one will die of hunger because government has enough relief food.And DMMU National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe said the Unit will also be distributing relief stock feed for animals.Mr. Kabwe however called on various departments in the district to work with the office of the vice president so that challenged areas are reported on time.Meanwhile, acting Nyimba district commissioner Rodwell Ntulwa thanked government for coming to the aid of the people.
