GOVT HAS NO INTENTION TO LEGALIZE BIGAMY

By Wilson Mulinda

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says it is not Government’s intention to legalize bigamy.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says even the proposal does not say it should be legal.

She has clarified that law reformists only proposed that bigamy should be removed from the Penal code and remain in the marriage Act.

Mrs NALUMANGO has since assured citizens that Zambia remains a Christian nation which cannot support anything that is against Christian morals.

The Vice President was speaking during the induction service of Reformed Church in Zambia RCZ Silverest Congregation.

And Mrs. NALUMANGO has challenged government officials to carry out their duties based on Christianity because their leadership comes from God.

She said it is important to spare time for prayer despite the daily busy schedules in her office and that of Ministers.

The Vice President has also advised parents to spare time to understand the needs and mental status of their children to fight the increasing cases of suicide due to depression.

Meanwhile, RCZ Synod Moderator ACKSON BANDA assured President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA that RCZ will work with the Government of the day.

Reverend BANDA appealed to the National Assembly to enact bills into laws based on Christian values that Zambia is known for.

Chelstone Presbytery Moderator WEDSON KAMANGA said Government support will be required to meet the needs for the church.

And Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO, who is also Chongwe Member of Parliament, reminded the Church that the fight against COVID -19 is not over.

Ms. MASEBO advised church members to take their vaccines because the vaccination points have been brought closer to the people.

And during a sermon, Chelstone Congregation Resident Minister CLEMENT MWANZA advised the church to take prayer seriously because no person is big enough to confess their sins to God.
