GOVT ENGAGING CITIZENS – KAWANA

By ZANIS:

Government says it is engaging citizens by explaining what it is doing while listening to their plight.

Ministry of Information and Media, Director-Spokesperson Thabo Kawana says government is using various platforms that include radio where there is a component of phoning in.

Mr. Kawana was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Western Province Acting Permanent Secretary Francis Liywalii at his office in Mongu.

He expressed gratitude to comments by people in the province that they have seen change and are happy with the manner in which the Provincial Administration is running affairs.

Mr. Kawana was however disturbed with reports that the school administration at Mandanga Secondary in Mongu was asking pupils to come with reams of paper when there is free education.

And Dr. Liywalii said the objective of the Provincial Administration is to let people know what government is doing so that they become good stakeholders.

He said it was unfair to ask poor people at Mandanga School to provide reams of paper and the visually impaired in Sefula to be paying them Social Cash Transfer funds with shortfalls adding that the Provincial Administration will follow-up the matter and take appropriate action.
