GOVT. DISAPPOINTED WITH MBOWENI ATTACKS

By Wilson Mulinda

Government says it is dismayed with continued disparaging remarks and attacks against Zambia by South African Finance Minister TITO MBOWENI.

Chief Government Spokesperson DORA SILIYA says Mr. MBOWENI is not fit to hold a ministerial position with such negativity.

Ms. SILIYA says Government is however, optimistic that the utterances by Mr. MBOWENI do not represent the South African Government or its people.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Ms. SILIYA said Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate diplomatically to the South African Government to tame Mr. MBOWENI.

She said Zambia has been a shining example in the fight against COVID-19 with reduced cases.

Ms. SILIYA has wondered why Mr. MBOWENI is attacking Zambian Airways when South African Airlines has been grounded since COVID first struck.

She said Zambia has provided leadership in various sectors of the economy, which is why cooperating partners have not been hesitant to invest in the country.
