Glass Crushes Two to Death

Two people have died while four others sustained injuries after a box loaded with glass sheets fell on them from a truck at Chipata’s down shops trading area.

The accident occurred Tuesday around 10: 20 hours when the six were engaged to offload the boxes of glass sheets from a truck.

Eastern Province Deputy Police Commanding Officer STEPHEN MAYOKO says while they were in process of offloading one box containing glass sheets fell on them and trapped them.

Mr MAYOKO says the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in Chipata Central hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial while police have instituted inquiries into the matter.

And Mr MAYOKO said a 17-year-old pupil of Petauke boarding Secondary School has been found dead in a hostel.

He said the pupil was found dead in the early hours Tuesday.

Mr. MAYOKO said the body has been taken to Petauke General hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
