FULLY BOOKED: LIVINGSTONE EXPECTS MORE TOURISTS

The Livingstone Tourism Association -LTA- says the tourist capital is so far standing at seventy five percent, room occupancy ahead of the festive season.

Acting LTA Chairperson HILARY KASHEMPA says the association is optimistic that Livingstone will reach one hundred percent occupancy in the next one or two days going into Christmas.

Mr. KASHEMPA has told ZNBC news in an interview that domestic tourists are the major occupiers and that they have been increasing in numbers to support tourism.

Meanwhile Mr. KASHEMPA said tourism recovery is now standing at sixty five percent compared to fifty percent at the end of the second quarter.

Mr. KASHEMPA said the recovery has been quite significant considering that the sector had almost collapsed at the height of the COVID 19 pandemic.

He said with the government interventions and the Zambia Tourism Agency’s resolve to woo up to 1,500,000 tourists into the country next year, the tourism sector is expected to recover fully.
