FSLITZ SEEKING EMPLOYMENT

By Ruth Chayinda:

The Federation of sign language interpreters and translators of Zambia has called on Government to consider employing translators in public offices.

FSLITZ President Obed Mambwe says people that are deaf usually have challenge in communication because most public offices do not have translators.

Mr Mambwe said this during a fundraising luncheon in Lusaka today.

He also called on National Health Insurance Management Authority -NHIMA- to consider incorporating translators within its scheme so that deaf people can receive the right services.

And NHIMA Director General James Kapesa said his institution will support the calls by the association as it will promote efforts by the deaf to access quality health care.

Meanwhile Kansanshi Senior Supervisor, Corporate for social responsibility, Victor Nsana also said his company will support the federation to fulfill their goal.
