Frustration for Fashion Sakala as he watches Rangers, PSV draw from the bench

Zambia forward Fashion Sakala was unused substitute on Tuesday night in Rangers’ 2-2 draw against Dutch side PSV.

Rangers welcomed PSV at Ibrox in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League aiming for first appearance in Champions League groups since 2010-11.

The match also pitted two former Dutch international teammates – Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and Ruud Van Nistelrooy – in the opposite dugouts.

PSV Eindhoven took the lead thanks to a goal from Ivoriy Coast star Ibrahim Sangare. Rangers fought back through goals from Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence 

PSV snatched an equaliser with a header from defender Armando Obispo.

Rangers are now unbeaten in eight European home games, but a run of four straight wins comes to an end.

The tie is level going into the second leg next Wednesday.

Sakala who continues to be linked with a move away from Ibrox Stadium is yet to feature for Bronckhorst’s side this season.

Although he was on the peripheries last season, he scored 12 goals in his debut season in Scotland.

Elsewhere Friday Samu played in the last 30 minutes in Maritzburg’s goalless stalemate against Cape Town in the South Africa PSL on Tuesday night.
