The Zambia Freedom Fighters Association in Eastern Province has appealed to the government to erect statues of freedom fighters in all the provinces.

Provincial Association Vice-Chairperson ANDERSON ZULU says the current generation should understand and appreciate the independence struggle.

Mr ZULU told ZNBC News that most of the gallant freedom fighters have died and they can easily be remembered through the erection of their statues.

And Eastern Province Permanent Secretary PAUL THOLE, who officiated at the independence celebrations in Chipata called on Zambians to remain united.
