FREE EDUCATION POLICY, A GAME CHANGER

By Brian Mwale:

Former Higher Education Deputy Minister in the MMD Government LUCY CHANGWE says the free education policy is a game changer in enhancing girl child education.

Ms. CHANGWE says being an educationist, who has taught at high school and university levels, she is convinced that the free education policy will help address some societal stereo-types which disadvantage girl children and women.

She has since commended President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for introducing the policy.

Ms. CHANGWE adds that President HICHILEMA has since assuming office demonstrated seriousness in implementing progressive policies that will take Zambia to another level in terms of development.

She says education is an equalizer in society and will play a critical role in the country’s quest to attain the 2030 vision.

The former deputy minister has, however. noted that need for government to consider promoting night school education at government schools, to allow adults who did not attain formal education to do so.

She says this intervention will greatly assist in reducing illiteracy among the adult population in the country.

This is contained in a Press Statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
