Frankie Musonda reflects on his dream debut, Mabika & Klings Kangwa goal

Scotland based defender Frankie Musonda was happy with the way he played and described it as a ‘dream debut.’

Musonda made a scoring debut as Zambia beat Congo 3-1 in a friendly match on Friday afternoon.

“Obviously for myself to score as well was an amazing feeling. It was a dream debut for me. A dream to play for Zambia but to score on top of that,” the 24 year old Raith Rovers defender said.

“I couldn’t ask for some more. I am so happy right now,” he added

Musonda was also quick to praise his teammates for making his debut easier.

“I thought the team played really well. I think we took a few moments to settle into the game but once we settled we played some really exciting football.

He also lauded Klings Kangwa’s goal after the 21 year old combined with Clatous Chama and skipper Enock Mwepu to score a superb goal.

“I think going forward, we looked really creative and the second goal was one of the best I have been involved and I have seen playing live,” Musonda said.

“I thought the build up for the goal was really good.

On his partnership with fellow new comer Aime Mabika.

“Yeah, I though he did really good as well. I thought the whole defence was really good. The keeper, the back four and everyone else.

“Obviously for Mabika, it’s a proud moment for him and his family.

“And for us to win on our debut, it’s just amazing for both of us. Hopefully the more we play together, the better the chemistry becomes.

“And we keep on progressing and we take it step by step.

Up next is Sunday’s tie against Benin.
