Forest Rangers in make or break encounter as Nkana fans rally behind Power Dynamos

By Aaron Mubanga Jnr | August 3, 2020

Forest Rangers will be all out for a win this afternoon when they make a short trip to Kitwe to face Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium.

A win will take Fole Malembe to the summit of the log with 49 points leapfrogging both Nkana and Napsa Stars and will leave them just one win away from making history and win their first Super League title.

For Tenant Chilumba and his Boys, the match is one of the two finals they will play this week with the other one being against Napsa Stars in midweek.

For Power Dynamos, They are not fighting for anything but pride may be at stake for the club and winning bonuses for the players who have been out of action for four months.

NKANA BACKING POWER

In a twist of events, Nkana fans have no choice today than to cheer for their bitter town rivals Power Dynamos who must win to keep them with an e chance of winning their record 13th title.

Power Dynamos fans have already started taunting their rivals from across the road that they will lose to Forest Rangers but obviously, on the pitch, the players won’t be bothered by that and will be looking for a win by any means for pride and the winning bonus that comes with it.

Nkana took to Facebook through their official page to send some love to their neighbors.

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thyself,” Nkana wrote on their official Facebook page quoting the Bible scripture Galatians 5:14.

“Sending some love to Power Dynamos. All the best neighbors” Nkana posted.

Following their 2-2 draw with Red Arrows on Saturday in Lusaka they have been left with no choice but to depend a little on their arch-rivals.

TC AND MUTAPA FACE THEIR FORMER CLUBS

Power Dynamos head coach Perry Mutapa and his assistant Masauso Tembo will be up against their former team, Forest Rangers a team they were in charge of until last November when they ditched the Ndola based outfit for Abayellow.

Mutapa joined the Forest Rangers back in 2016 as an Assistant coach to Patrick Phiri and in 2017 he was named as head coach and was joined by Masauso Tembo as his first assistant coach.

Forest Rangers boss Tenant Chilumba will also be up against his former side having been in charge of Abayellow between 2013 and 2016.

It’s all systems go for both coaches who are expected to line up their best players and for the fans an explosive encounter is promised. The match will be live on Supersport.

HEAD TO HEAD

Forest Rangers are facing a team they have only managed to beat 3 times in the last 25 meetings and just once at Arthur Davies Stadium, the pitch they will be playing on today.

Abayellow is the clear favorites when it comes to previous records having won ten times while the other 12 matches ended in draws.

The only win for Fole Malembe at Arthur Davies Stadium was on 28th September 2011 via a Larry Siakapisa lone goal.

However, Tenant Chilumba and his Boys have everything to fight for hence that is motivation enough to end the 9-year drought at Arthur Davies Stadium.
