Flash flooding warnings for Western,N/Western provinces

The Water Resources Management Authority -WARMA- has warned of flooding in three districts in Western and North Western Provinces.

WARMA Public Relations Officer MUBIANA NALWENDO says Chavuma, Zambezi and Mitete Districts are likely to have floods starting today.

Mr. NALWENDO says the institution’s monitoring system has issued two alerts on the Zambezi River in North Western Province and one alert on the Lungwebungu River in Western Province.

Mr. NALWENDO says the flood will affect settlements around Kashona School and several villages.

He says the Lungwebungu River in Mitete District is also likely to experience severe floods reaching its peak today.

Mr. NALWENDO has warned people in the Districts to take precautionary measures and monitor the situation for any changes in the flood, water levels and river flows.
