Five people perish in Isoka Road Accident

Five people have died in a road accident in Isoka District of Muchinga Province after a trailer belonging to a Tanzanian registered truck overturned last night.

The five, who are all males, include four juveniles aged between 12 and 15 and a 21-year-old man.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer KAUNDA MUBANGA says the truck which was carrying Mopani logs also carried 6 passengers in the trailer.

Mr. MUBANGA says the accident happened on the Nazareth – Isoka Gravel road around 20:00 hours last night.

He says out of the 16 passengers on board, five died, eight survived with injuries while three escaped unhurt.

Mr. MUBANGA says Police are pursuing the Tanzanian truck driver who is currently on the run and is believed to have escaped with the keys for the truck.
