By Etambuyu Katota

Lands and Natural Resources Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA has appealed to investors to find alternative land before displacing people in an area.

Mr. MUCHIMA says the investors must not just pay off affected people but must also ensure that they are properly settled in an area.

He says failure to find alternative settlements has the potential to raise land wrangles.

Mr. MUCHIMA says government appreciates investments but they must benefit the local people also.

The Minister was speaking when he toured Serenje Properties Limited whose investment has displaced 28 families n Serenje District.

Mr. MUCHIMA assured the developer that he would engage his counterpart in the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment to ensure that the stop order by ZEMA for the construction of the dam is resolved.

And, Serenje Properties Limited Manager MARIUS STEYON said the displaced families have been compensated except two families that have not yet turned up to receive their compensation.
