FIFPRO, Copper Queens Sign $100,000 Image Rights Contract

The Footballers and Allied Workers Union of Zambia -FAWUZ- has secured funding of One hundred thousand US dollars to be paid to some Copper Queen players for their image rights.

FAWUZ- President SANDRAS KUMWENDA says the money will be paid to the girls in amounts of US$25,000 during the course of four years.

KUMWENDA says the funding will be allocated to 24 members of the Copper Queens National team with each player getting one thousand US dollars.

He was speaking during the handover of the first of US$25,000 cheque to the players in Lusaka today.

And FAZ General Secretary REUBEN KAMANGA said the payment of the players’ rights image will go a long way in uplifting the status of women football.

KAMANGA said the Association is also working on ensuring most firms pay players for using their images.
