By Lucky Mwewa Chama | December 24, 2019

In this week’s feature article, we get to meet 21-year-old former Indeni, KYSA and Kabwe Warriors versatile midfielder Clement Mulenga.

Mulenga started his active football with K Stars, where he played just one season in 2015 before he was spotted and picked by Kabwe giants Kabwe Warriors Football Club in 2016.

After been snapped by Walya Nganga, Mulenga was sent on loan to Zesco Victoria Falls. During his days at Vic Falls, the young midfielder accounted well for himself and helped the team finish second in the Southern Zone Four League.

He was called back by Warriors before he was loaned for a second time to Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy (KYSA), who had just won promotion to the Super League (2018), where he spent the entire season for the side which was later demoted to the Division One Zones in 2018.

During KYSA’s first stint in the Zambian Super League, Mulenga managed to find the back of the net five times including games against Kitwe United and Nchanga Rangers, showing his efficiency and effectiveness going forward despite playing a largely defensive role.

Despite the team being relegated, the 21-year-old played most of the games as his efforts did not go unnoticed with Ndola based side Indeni Football Club rushing to recruit the talented defensive midfielder.

While playing the transitional league with the Oil Men, Mulenga helped Indeni FC win promotion to the 2019/20 Eden University National Division League as they finished in the second position.

Mulenga, an admirer of Ivorian legendary midfielder Yaya Toure told the ZamFoot Crew that he is now a free agent after he decided to terminate his contract with the Oil Men due to lack of playing time in the National League which entered Week 14 last weekend.

A number of Super League clubs and National Division teams are currently in talks with the ever hard-working midfielder. As we approach the January transfer winding, it will not be too long before the Zambian soccer fans get to see Mulenga back on the field of play as two Super League clubs as well one National Division club are in negotiations with the lad.

For any team that will snap up the lad, they will win a jackpot as Mulenga is such a versatile player who can play in the defensive midfield role as well as center-back when the need arises, simply put, he is a utility player with so much endurance.
