FAZ Women’s Super League: Zesco open three-point lead, Elite Ladies thrash Queens as Police Doves hold Indeni

The FAZ Women’s Super League entered week 15 of action over the weekend with four exciting matches taking place across the country.

Log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls opened a two-point lead at the summit following a 2-0 win over YASA Queens while Lusaka Dynamos Ladies thrashed Queens Academy 4-0 to move up to the second place.

Ndola-based outfit Indeni Roses were held to a 1-1 draw away in Solwezi by Police Dove Queens while Nkwazi Queens edged ZISD Ladies 1-0.

ZESCO Ndola Girls extended their stay at the summit of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League log table after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Stubborn YASA Queens in a week 15 encounter played at Chambeshi Grounds and was televised live on ZNBC TV3 and broadcasted on Top Star.

After a goalless first half, Zegalicious opened the scores through Natasha ‘Pogba’ Mulenga as she punished her former team YASA before the enterprising Fridah Kabwe added the second goal for the match to end 2-0 in favor of the Coach William Zulu drilled lasses who have now accumulated 30 points from 13 games played while YASA remain on 4th position with 23 points from 13 games played too.

Police Dove Queens and Indeni Roses on Sunday afternoon settled for a 1-1 draw in a 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League Week 15 encounter played at Solwezi Technical Secondary School Ground.

The Oil Ladies scored first through Norin Betani towards the end of the first half, however, Rita Kaoma Mwila leveled matters for the Fearless Queens just after the hour mark converting from a penalty spot as the game ended 1-1 with spoils being shared in this interesting affair.

This was the second draw in succession for Dove Queens who have 12 points and are occupying 11th position on the log standing while Indeni has 27 points at par with Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC but only separated on goal difference.

In other games played on Saturday, 12th June 2021, Lusaka Dynamos thrashed Queens Academy 4-0 in a game that was played at Jasmine Grounds in Kabwe.

The Elite found the back of the through Xiomara Mapepa, while Natasha Mushiko and Botswana International Lone Gaofetoge opened their goal-scoring accounts, as well as Comfort Selemani, found herself on the scoresheet too to keep pressure on log leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls who are above them with only 3 points.

At Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka, Nkwazi Queens bounced back to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-nil victory over unlucky Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club.

Nkwazi’s Rebecca Bwale broke the records by scoring the fastest goal in this inaugural FAZ Women’s Super League in 33 seconds and her goal was enough for the coach Patrick Tembo drilled lasses to collect maximum points and completed a double victory over ZISD having won 5-0 in the reverse fixture played earlier this year.

National Assembly pocketed 3 points plus 3 goals on a silver plate over Nkana Queens who are still waiting for their case which is yet to be concluded by FAZ.

Green Buffaloes and Red Arrows were scheduled to visit Mufulira Wanderers and Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) respectively but their games were postponed owing to most of their players currently being in camp with the senior women’s national team preparing for the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics to be staged next month in Japan.
