FAZ Women’s National League: Week one Preview

The long-awaited FAZ Women’s National League will kick off this Saturday with six mouth-watering encounters while one game will take place on Sunday.

In Ndola, Zesco United Ladies play host to favorites, Green Buffaloes while Indeni Roses travel to Lusaka to face youthful side, Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA).

Central Province giants, Queens Academy, host another favorite in Red Arrows while Mufulira Wanderers Queens host Nkana Queens.

Bauleni United Sports vs Indeni Roses


Time: 15:00


Venue: New Bauleni Stadium

All roads will tomorrow afternoon lead to the New Margaret Mwanakatwe Bauleni Stadium in Lusaka as the Queens of Bauleni BUSA Queens welcome Indeni Roses in the first-ever Match Week 1 of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League.

This will be the first-ever meeting between these two sides who will have all to play for in this mouthwatering encounter that promises to be a cracker and already it’s a talk of the day because it will be the first game of the season and will set up a tone on how the league will unfold.

BUSA Queens have been busy on the field of play having been engaged in several friendly matches including the recently hosted Barbara Banda Foundation and BUSA Women’s Challenge Cup where they came out second to Green Buffaloes Women Football Club despite the circumstances surrounding Covid-19 so it will be a good test to the Roses who will be banking on the experience of having been the Champions of Copperbelt Women’s League and 2019 Women’s National Championship Finalists and 2020 Semi-finalists.

BUSA Queens with arguably be one of the young squad will be a hard nut to crack as they have proved to be giant killers in the league especially with Zambia Women’s Under-17 Coach Kaluba Kangwa at the helm of the team.

On the other hand, The Roses under the tutelage of the experienced Coach Benson Chambeshi who is the brother to Kansanshi Dynamos Coach Beston Chambeshi won’t leave any stone unturned because they aim to collect maximum points tomorrow.

Zesco United Girls vs Green Buffaloes Women

Venue: Trade Fair Grounds, Ndola

Green Buffaloes Women Football Club will start their quest in the Inaugural 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League with a tricky tie away in Ndola against Zesco Ndola Girls this weekend.

Buffaloes who are the National Women’s Champions will aim to maintain their dominance in the league but coming up against a Zesco side will really prove their stability going forward.

The Coach Charles Haalubono drilled lasses will have a busy first five weeks in the league with mouthwatering fixtures ahead of them.

In Week 2, Buffaloes will host Mufulira Wanderers Women Football Club before taking a short trip to Edwin Imboela Stadium to lock horns with Nkwazi in a defense derby in Match Week 3.

The Zambia Army-sponsored side will then host their sister club Queen’s Academy at home in Week 4 thereafter they will wrap up Week 5 with an away game to BUSA Queens.

Queens Academy vs Red Arrows


Time: 10:00


Venue: Jasmine Ground

This weekend it’s on, Jasmine Grounds in Kabwe will be the venue as Queens Academy will lock horns with Red Arrows in an early kick-off match slated for 10:00hrs.

This will not be the first time these two teams will be meeting as they clashed last year on 24th October 2020 at the same venue in a friendly match and The Air Ladies triumphed 2-0 with goals courtesy of Square Maiwase who will be looking forward to repeating the same feat for last year for Red Arrows in this interesting fixture on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see how the Queens of Kabwe will respond against a resurgent Red Arrows side.

Mufulira Wanderers vs Nkana Queens

Venue: Shinde

Mufulira Wanderers Women Football Club will welcome Nkana Queens in the first Copperbelt derby in the National League that promises to be intriguing in the Inaugural 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League Match on Saturday 20th March 2021.

The Mighty Ladies have been hard on the ground and playing host to Nkana who recently rebuilt the team owing to several players leaving the club could aim to capitalize on this development.

Wanderers will rely on the skillful Carol Kanguya for more goals upfront alongside Gloria Janza, Beatrice Chishala and Sharon Mwansa to inspire them to victory while Nkana will be hoping the likes of Esnart Chanda, Penelope Mwanza, and Grace Kapansa rise to the occasion for the team.

Nkwazi Queens vs Lusaka Dynamos


Time: 10:00


Venue: Edwin Imboela Stadium

Nkwazi Women Football Club will this weekend play host to Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC in a Match Week 1 of the 2020/21 FAZ Super Women’s slated for Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Arguably one of the most intriguing encounters, this will be the second meeting between these two sides, the last time they met was in The Elite Ladies’ first-ever friendly match played on 29th September 2020 at Queensmead Stadium and the Elite triumphed 1-0 in this game.

Elizabeth Mupeso scored the only goal of the match for the Elite Ladies.

There will be a lot to play for in this game which will kick-off at 10:00hrs.

National Assembly vs ZISD

Time: 15:00

Venue: Showgrounds, Lusaka.

Late inclusions in National Assembly and ZISD will have yet another date with each other having met a fortnight ago in the Women’s Provincial League in which the Parliamentarians triumphed 3-1 with goals courtesy of Tabo Miselo, Dorothy Lungu, and Felistus Phiri while ZISD found the consolation goal through Kabwe Chewe.

But this time around, ZISD has acquired the services of some players from Nkwazi who boosted their squad and will hope to give Assembly a good run for their money when they meet tomorrow.

Assembly has been struggling to score goals but they will count on Gladys Kunda and Felistus Phiri to inspire them to a victory.

Police Doves Queens vs YASA

Venue: Solwezi Stadium

Lusaka-based FAZ Women’s League side YASA Queens will this weekend take a long trip to North-Western Province to lock horns with Police Dove Queens at Solwezi Stadium in a Match Week 1 of the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League.

This will be the first-ever meeting between The Stubborn YASA and The Fearless Queens in the Women’s circles and expectations are high because both sides have declared themselves ready for this crunch encounter slated for Sunday, 21st March 2021 with Kick-Off time set at 15:00hrs.
