FAZ Women National League Preview: Top spot up for grabs as Indeni host Assembly and Elite Ladies welcome ZESCO Ndola Girls

FAZ Women’s Super League enters Week 11 of action tomorrow, Wednesday, May 19, 2021, with five mouthwatering encounters expected around the country with Lusaka hosting three of those while Ndola and Solwezi will host the other two fixtures.

At NASDEC Sports Complex, Lusaka Dynamos will play host to ZESCO Ndola Girls in what is arguably the game of the day to look out for in this first-ever meeting between these two sides.

Elite Ladies are coming from a disappointing 4-1 loss at the hands of YASA Queens and they will be hoping to redeem themselves but coming up against Zegalicious won’t be easy for the Elite Ladies.

This match can go either way considering how they have been fairing in the league so far in this battle of 3rd and 4th position as both teams have 15 points apiece and only separated on goal difference from 8 games played.

This match will kick off at 10:00hrs.

Elsewhere in another early kick-off match, Solwezi Technical Secondary School Ground will be the venue as Police Dove Queens welcome Queens Academy in an interesting tie to look out for as there is a lot that is at stake in this encounter.

Queens are bubbling with confidence after they defeated Nkwazi Queens 2-0 last weekend a team that edged Dove Queens 1-0 a fortnight ago at Soltech Ground.

Both sides have declared themselves ready for this fixture that will kick off at 10:00hrs the first time Doves will have a home game at this time in this season as compared to their traditional 15:00hrs.

In Ndola, second-placed Indeni Roses will hope to continue their impressive form in the league when they welcome 8th placed side and draw specialists National Assembly at Indeni Sports Complex.

This will be the first-ever meeting between these two sides and there is so much to expect from the Roses under the hospices of the new coach Wisdom Kaira who picked up maximum points in his first game in charge of Indeni the past weekend against the fellow experienced Coach Thomas Nyirenda for the Parliamentarians who are making their third return visit to the Copperbelt Province.

This game will kick off at 15:00hrs.

Back to the capital city, Lusaka will host two Provincial derbies as Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Queens take on Nkwazi Queens in a tricky fixture at the New Margaret Mwanakwatwe Bauleni Stadium at 15:00hrs.

BUSA won the previous two meetings against Nkwazi winning 3-0 in a friendly in January, and another 1-0 sweet victory a month later in the semi-final of the Inaugural 2021 Barbara Banda Foundation and BUSA Women’s Challenge Cup with both matches played at Crested Cranes Academy Ground.

Hence, BUSA will be hoping to replicate that result when they square off with Nkwazi who are desperate to bounce back to winning ways tomorrow afternoon as all Roads will lead to Bauleni Compound.

At Independence Stadium, Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club will lock horns with YASA Queens in another Lusaka Derby that promises to produce sparks.

With 10 points separating these two sides the onus will now be on second from bottom ZISD who have been re-inforcing their squad with good additions to the team to deliver the expected results on the field of play.

ZISD put up an excellent performance in their last match against Nkana Queens and they might just want to surprise YASA with another victory.

On the other hand, Stubborn YASA is fresh from a remarkable 4-1 victory over Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC and will be fighting to keep the momentum going when they visit ZISD tomorrow.

On paper, YASA is the favorites to carry the day.

The match will kick off at 15:00hrs to conclude the midweek fixtures.

Red Arrows were scheduled to host Mufulira Wanderers while Green Buffaloes had a date away at Nkana who are currently on suspension from the Football Association Women’s League owing to a pending disciplinary case.
