Fashion Sakala Jnr could lead the Rangers’ attack against RB Leipzig

Fashion Sakala Jnr will be expected in action this evening as FC Rangers travel to Germany to face RB Leipzig in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League tie.

The showman will be looking to open his campaign in the Competition having failed to find the back of the net in his eight appearances for the Light Blues.

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst who could be the man to lead Rangers to the Europa League final confirmed the Zambian international is part if the trip to Saxony.

“No, we are going with a big plane. We have a lot of players and a lot of staff. So he’s travelling,” he said.

There is a small matter off navigating RB Leipzig on the route to Seville. The Bundesliga side are the favourites to lift the trophy having toppled Atalanta in the previous round, while Rangers are looking to bring back memories of 2008.

If they are to reach the showpiece final they will have to do it without the Buffalo, Alfredo Morelos, who has scored in five European games this season, is out. Kemar Roofe, his deputy, is also out. Aaron Ramsey, who was signed on loan for the biggest games, will play no part.

The Dutchman had a chance to look at his options against Motherwell and that could set up a huge chance for the likes of Sakala and Scott Wright at the RB Arena.

The Light Blues travel to the Red Bull Arena in Germany to face Domenico Tedesco’s side in the first leg of the last four, before the return to Ibrox next Thursday.

This is the first semi-final of a European tournament that the club have reached since 2008, and McGregor believes that this is an ‘unbelievable achievement’ for the club and expressed his emotions to get to this stage of the competition.
