Fans remember Ex-Chipolopolo Team Doctor Kabungo

Zanis-The Zambia Football Fans Association (ZAFFA) has described the late Zambian FIFA Doping Control Officer, Joseph Kabungo as a selfless and dedicated man.

ZAFFA chairperson, Yotam Mwanza said Dr. Kabungo was an outstanding football personality saying the Zambian football fraternity has lost an icon.

“The football family and Zambia at large has lost a very good man who worked hard to see the Zambian flag at global football events,” he said.

He said Dr. Kabungo was a selfless man who gave his life fully to football adding that he was a champion and a true icon who will be remembered for his great work in football.

“Though we have different reports that he was a victim of stampede and others say he just collapsed and died, all in all it is a great loss for the Zambian football family,” he said.

Dr. Kabungo died yesterday in Abuja, Nigeria after the qualifying match between Nigeria and Ghana ended 1-1 making Ghana champions on an away goal rule.

The former Mufulira Wanderers goalkeeper who also served as Siavonga District Chief Health Medical Officer was on duty as a doping officer in Tuesday’s match.
