Expert View: Nsabata shouldn’t be thrown under the bus & Clatous Chama plays like we owe him an apology

Following Zambia’s 2-1 defeat to Benin, their has been diverge views with how the players played.

Why are people throwing Toaster Nsabata under the bus for the loss?

Was he at fault?

For both goals the defense cracked.

Lubambo Musonda failed to stay with his man for the first and Klings Kangwa let his man ran past him to turn what was a safe situation into a 3 v 2.

Tandi Mwape should also have shown more awareness by trying to hold his attempt to snatch the ball once they were 3 v 2.

I think Ghampani Lungu was played there as make-shift seeing we had no option on who to lead the line. He was pathetic but I would not be too hard on him as he seems to thrive in a different position at club level.

But Clatous Chama was way below average. Add that there was no end product from Lameck Banda. it even flatters that the stats would seem like we had quite some control of the game.

I would imagine the team would be much better if these three were replaced by more willing fighters.

Augustine Mwanza: Zambia needs a holding midfielder

I saw the first goal but didn’t see the second, I felt Lubambo did his part by closing his area now the issue of no.6 comes in.

If there is a proper no.6 in the game Cebio Soukou can not come inside like he did and take a shot. The no.6 could have closed him down.

Saasa Munalula: Tandi was slow, Clatous & Lameck need time to gel

Agreed. Lubambo lost his maker for the first.

On Toaster, I’d just add his ball distribution was poor. And he needs to have more command of the defence.

For instance, there was a mix-up in the first half which nearly gifted the Squirrels a goal but for poor finishing.

Tandi Mwape was slow in reacting to situations. I think he is lacking game time at TP Mazembe.

A lot was expected from Triple C [Clatous Chama] and Lameck [Banda] given their current foam at club level.

I think they need more time to gel with the team. They’ve been in-and-out of national team set up.

I feel like Ghampani has been given too many chances to impress in national team colours but fails to turn up.
