Ex-Chipolopolo team medic’s body arrives

Chansa Kunda-The body of former CHIPOPOLOPO team Doctor JOSEPH KABUNGO has arrived in the country from Nigeria.

Dr. KABUNGO’s body, which was accompanied by family members and officials from the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ-, landed Wednesday at the Kenneth KAUNDA INTERNATIONAL Airport.

Dr. KABUNGO, who was serving as FIFA and FAC Doping officer at the time of his death, died ,on duty during the final playoffs of 2022 FIFA world CUP qualifier games between Nigeria and Ghana in Abuja.

And FAZ General Secretary ADRIAN KASHALA, who was accompanied the body, says the team of four medical doctors and family members was taken through the process that led to the death of the former Chipolopolo team doctor.

KASHALA told ZNBC Sports News that the team undertook a full survey of what could have happened and what laid to his death adding that details will be availed to the public soon.

And family representative WEBSTER NONDE said the family travelled to Nigeria to ascertain what could have led to Dr. KABUNGO’s death.

Dr. KABUNGO will be put to rest tomorrow at Leopards Hill Memorial park after a funeral service at the Woodlands stadium.
