Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya impresses as Djurgardens record hard fought draw

Swedish-based Chipolopolo forward Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya put in a good ninety-minute shift while Emmanuel Banda was a second half substitute as Djurgardens IF recorded a 1-1 away draw against Swedish giants, Malmö FF in a league encounter.

Malmö FF came into the match on the back of a midweek three-nil loss to Juventus in the Champions League and positioned fourth on the league table.

On the other hand, Djurgardens came in well rested and on the back of a comfortable win last weekend, in which Edward Chilufya scored the fourth goal; and topping the league table.

In today’s match, Chilufya played in his usual role on the right flank of a three-man attack and looked lively. He had a chance to score in the 39th minute only to be denied by a Malmö’s goalkeeper, Dahlin from close range.

Following a half full of tough duels and attacking threat from both sides, a penalty converted by Malmö’s Mirko Colak in the 16th minute was all that separated the two sides going into half time [1-0].

The second half continued with both sides attacking at will and creating chances.

Djurgardens IF did eventually get their deserved equalizing goal in the 80th minute when the hosts failed to deal with a cross floated in from outside the penalty area which was finished off by Hjalmar Ekdal from close range [1-1].

Emmanuel Banda was introduced in the 64th minute for role on right side of midfield. He combined well with Chilufya in the 82nd minute when he played his compatriot through on the right flank. Chilufya made a good run before seeing his well struck thunderous effort bounce off the bar with the keeper beaten.
