EDUCATE WORKERS ON LABOUR LAWS-TAMBATAMBA

(ZANIS) Labour and Social Security Minister, BRENDA TAMBATAMBA has urged employers to prioritize educating workers on labour laws.

Ms. TAMBATAMBA says the responsibility to educate employees heavily lies on the employers.

ZANIS reports that she was speaking when the Zambia Federation of Employers -ZFE- Acting President, MYRA NGOMA paid a courtesy call on her in Lusaka today.

MS. TAMBATAMBA noted that the disagreements in labour sectors are caused by lack of employee education.

The Minister said productivity in the labour sector can only be attained if the workers undergo the right education.

And Mrs. NGOMA asked the government to revise the 20 percent penalty slapped on employers for delaying to remit NAPSA contributions.

She described the penalty as high saying it suffocates employers, who delay due to challenges beyond their control.
