EDEN LEAGUE CHARMS FANS

Eden University National Division One League Leaders Kitwe United may have tasted their second loss of the season against Gomes (1-2) last Sunday, but to soccer fans who witnessed the display of both teams were left ecstatic with the levels of not only skill, talent or the excellent display but even the well worked out goals.

The week 20 National league clash that was beamed live for the first time on Super sports channel alongside the super league giants, Power Dynamos and Red Arrows, left many soccer fans thinking they were watching super league sides.

Honestly, it’s the first time am watching this Eden League I never had a single idea this is how competitive and interesting this league was, from what I saw you can’t different this kind of display to that of super league. Said Nelson Zulu.

Another fan Clarence Chomba who watched the game on tv told Eden Media that the idea of covering live division one matches was work in the right direction.

‘So that is the kind of football we were missing. I couldn’t believe my eyes this league (Eden) has such immense talent and Classy Competition.

Kudos to supersport and of course FAZ and you the sponsors of the league (Eden University) please don’t stingy us this kind of entertainment at this level. He said.

And Kitwe United coach Stephen Mwansa said his team lost the game as it was not just their day.

‘ I think we did all we could but Gomes stood tall and utilize their chances. We just have to pull ourselves together and look to the future with hope. As you are aware this league is tough and you don’t need to sit on your laurels. I know we still have a long way to go we just have to recover very quickly.

Despite the loss, the Chingalika boys still lead the pack with 42 points but living dangerously as other teams behind them are breathing heavily on their shoulders as they keep reducing their points.

And his counterpart Sam Phiri whose side still maintain their seventh position with 34 points said he was elated that he won his first game in his second match in charge and hope his boys will continue of the same winning trajectory.

‘It was not an easy game, the turf was heavy, United also was not an easy side to break given the quality they possess, but we applied ourselves fully and played according to our plan, we got the win which was important for us and shall keep pushing. ‘He Said.

FAZ vice president Rix Mweemba was among the fans that turned out for the first-ever second-tier league live match broadcast.

Another Eden blockbuster fixture poised to go live on the giant pay-tv is the Indeni vs Kitwe United next week in Ndola.
