ECZ TOLD TO AID THE AGED ON POLLING DAY

(ZANIS ) A Kitwe based non-governmental organisation has appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- to consider providing a special service to the aged and differently abled persons during the election day to help them reduce their risk of contracting COVID-19.

Ray of Hope for the Aged and Disabled Persons of Zambia board chairperson ALLAN KAFIMBWA says it has been observed that the aged have become vulnerable to coronavirus because of their weak immune system.

Mr. KAFIMBWA has emphasised that old people are also said to have slim chances of surviving once they contract the pandemic hence the need to consider exempting them from queuing during the voting day.

He says failure to assure them with safety may discourage some of them from participating in an important exercise for fear of risking their lives.

Mr. KAFIMBWA mentioned disabled people to be among those to be allowed to enter the voting room without being subjected to joining long queues.
