ECZ calls for tolerance ahead of Chilubi poll

The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has called on all political parties in Chilubi to exercise tolerance and co-existence to facilitate for a conducive political environment for the delivery of credible election.ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Patrick Nshindano says the commission has deployed staff on the ground to ensure that the by-election takes place as scheduled.Mr Nshindano says the commission has received complaints from the National Democratic Congress -NDC-, the Patriotic Front and the United Party for National Development -UPND- concerning the on-going Chilubi Parliamentary by-election Campaigns.He says the Commission has engaged the Zambia Police Service high command and a meeting has been arranged to this effect.Mr Nshindano says the Commission has continued to take kin interest in the events taking place in Chilubi Constituency.He says the Commission has urged people in Chilubi to remain peaceful as they exercise their right to vote.Meanwhile, Mr Nshindano said the Campaign period which started on the 16th of January, 2020 will close on Wednesday 12th February, 2020 at 18:00hrs as scheduled.This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News by ECZ Acting Public Relations Manager Silvia Bwalya.
