ECL’s AIDE COMMITTED TO HIGH COURT

Former President EDGAR LUNGU’s Aide CHISANGA CHANDA has been committed to the High Court for trial in a matter where he is charged with accessories after fact to murder.

Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate, DOMINIC MAKALICHA committed Mr. CHANDA to the Lusaka High Court after he received a certificate of committal from the Director of Public Prosecutions -DPP- that the suspect be prosecuted.

Mr. CHANDA is charged with one count of accessories after fact to murder.

It is alleged that CHANDA harboured a murder suspect SHEBBY CHILEKWA.

When the matter came up, Magistrate MAKALICHA explained the charge to Mr. CHANDA and told him that he could not take plea before him because the matter can only be tried by the High Court.

Magistrate MAKALICHA said from today onwards, Mr. CHANDA will start appearing before the High Court for trial and that he will be communicated to as to when he will be cause listed before the High Court.

Mr. CHANDA is being represented by Lusaka lawyers CHARLES CHANGANO and JONAS ZIMBA.
