DR CHANDA DEMANDS PROFESSIONALISM

 

(ZANIS)Health Minister, Jonas Chanda says government will not hesitate to crack the whip on any health worker involved in corruption.

Speaking when he toured Nchanga North General Hospital in Chingola, Dr. Chanda said people involved in the pilferage of drugs and health kits will equally be flushed out of the system provided there is adequate evidence.

He said health workers should uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure ethical standards are put into practice.

Dr. Chanda said his office has been receiving numerous complaints from the public that some health workers in some facilities are charging for services that are not supposed to attract a fee, including Covid-19 tests.

He said health workers are critical in fighting diseases at any level, hence the need for them to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner that will always instill confidence in the general public.

And Ministry of Health Director Clinical Care and Diagnostic Services Alex Makupe said government, working with its cooperating partners, has also made sure that supply of necessary logistical support is rendered to all health facilities.

Dr. Makupe also said there has been unprecedented support from cooperating partners in the supply of oxygen to the Copperbelt so that all Covid-19 patients are given maximum attention.
