DON’T HARASS WOMEN FOR THEIR DRESSING

By Moombe Hamoobola

Livingstone Museum Assistant Keeper of Ethnography HAPPY CHILUFYA has challenged men in Zambia to adapt to the revolving fashion trends and not use it as an excuse to sexually assault women.

Ms. CHILUFYA has told ZNBC news in an interview in Livingstone today that some men have been complaining that women wear clothes that are too revealing forcing them to sexually assault the females.

She says wearing miniskirts and short dresses is not new to Zambia because in olden days people wore animal skins to cover vital parts of the body.

Ms. CHILUFYA says dressing should not be used as an excuse to sexually assault women.

She says women should be respected regardless of what they wear because they are not sex objects.
