“DON’T DIVIDE THE NATION ON TRIBAL LINES”

By Sharon Kunda

Vice President W.K MUTALE NALUMANGO says leaders should NOT divide the nation on tribal lines.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says leaders have an opportunity to work together in uniting the country.

She says the UPND in its manifesto stresses the importance of the country uniting, hence the need for people to refrain from tribal remarks.

Vice President NALUMANGO has reiterated that tribal sentiments go against the country’s penal code and inciting people on ethnic lines is an offense.

Speaking in parliament today during the Vice President’s Question time, Mrs. NALUMANGO said tribalism which has been allowed to go on for some time in the country needs to come to an end.

She said no one should use tribe as an excuse for having committed a wrong and that citizens will NOT be misled by such sentiments.

Mrs. NALUMANGO said this in response to a question by MITETE Member of Parliament MISHECK MUTELO who sought the counsel of the Vice President regarding continued tribal remarks in the country.

And Mrs. NALUMANGO clarified that Government increased the Constituency Development Fund allocation to over 25 million kwacha on the rationale of taking money where it is needed.

She said the country has struggled to decentralize over a long period of time adding that the increase in CDF allocation is meant to actualise the process.
