DMMU to give maize to Mazabuka’s vulnerable

By Lucky Phiri

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit – DMMU – has delivered 200 metric tonnes of relief maize to Mazabuka District, Southern Province.

The maize is for vulnerable people who cannot manage to buy the commodity from the Food Reserve Agency – FRA.

And Mazabuka District Commissioner OLIVER MULOMBA says the drought affected communities will start receiving relief maize next week.

This came to light when Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary YVONNE MPUNDU called on him at his office.

And Ms MPUNDU has advised the district administration to ensure the relief maize benefits the intended people.

She said the relief maize should be for the people who are NOT registered on government social support programmes.
