“DISBAND ZESCO”

Opposition United Progressive Party Leader SAVIOUR CHISHIMBA has urged government to re-engineer ZESCO in a bid to address the continued energy crisis in the country.

Dr. CHISHIMBA has further proposed that the power utility company be disbanded by separating power generation from transmission and distribution.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Dr. CHISHIMBA said power generation plants must run as separate entities as this will help in efficiency.

He said Zambia can become a continental hub in power generation if such changes are considered.

And, Dr CHISHIMBA said the idea of having Acting Permanent Secretaries before appointment of the office holders offends the Public Finance Act and should be resolved by appointing office holders.
