“DEMOLISH STRUCTURES TO ADDRESS FLOODS”

Lusaka District Commissioner ROSA ZULU says some structures in Lusaka’s Kalikiliki and Mtendere Compound will have to be demolished to address the problem of flooding in some parts of the City.

She says this will be the only permanent solution , adding that the flooding situation has worsened in the named areas which has seen thousands of families loosing their homes and properties.

Ms. ZULU says it is disappointing to note that over the years, residents have continued to encroach on the Kalikiliki stream which has caused blockages.

She has further urged the Lusaka City Council to be involved whenever a new settlement is being planned.

Ms. ZULU was speaking during an inspection in Kalikiliki and Mtendere compounds in the company of Munali Member of Parliament MIKE MPOSHA .

Meanwhile, Mr. MPOSHA who is also Water Development Minister says mindset change among residents is also part of the solution.
