DEC destorys 4 tons of drugs

The Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC – has destroyed over 4 tonnes of various drug substances that it seized during its operations.

The drugs which were burnt at the Chongwe Municipal Council Chikwangala Dump site in Chongwe were seized between December 2023 to March 2024 in Lusaka Province.

DEC Assistant Public Relations Officer SYDNEY KATONGO told ZNBC News in an interview that some of the drugs seized were in transit from other countries.

And the DEC says it is committed to addressing drug abuse especially among young people calling themselves as junkies.

He warned those that are into drug trafficking and money laundering that the law will catch up with them.
