Daka, Mwepu, and Sakala made debuts in the UK

Zambian exports to the United Kingdom Enock Mwepu, Patson Daka, and Fashion Sakala on Saturday made their debuts for their respective clubs.

Enock Mwepu put in 45 minutes for Brighton and Hove Albion in their goalless draw against FC Rangers.

The Computer showed some flashes of brilliance in the middle of the park and was quite impressive in the 45 minutes he was in action.

On the opposite end, Striker Fashion Sakala came from the bench to play the last 27 minutes of the barren draw.

Elsewhere, Daka donned the Foxes shirt for the first time as he completed the first 45 minutes of City’s pre-season opener at Pirelli Stadium against league one side, Burton Albion.

Daka did not have enough supply upfront hence his contribution was not as expected but he made some good runs and looked sharp despite not getting the much-needed supply.

The 2017 CAF young player of the year expressed happiness with his debut in a post-match interview with the club’s official website.

“I think it was really important to get some minutes, it was amazing to be out here, especially with the fans. It was really important to get this feeling. It’s an emotional day for me wearing this jersey. It was really special,” Daka told LCFC TV.

“I was looking forward to it, and today, it’s a day that I will treasure not just looking at the result, but also getting the experience and getting to understand each other with my teammates.”

Leicester City suffered a 3-1 loss on post-match penalties as Thanawat Suengchitthawon and Thomas were both denied from the spot and Iheanacho lifted his penalty over the bar.

“It was really important to see how we can work together going forward and just to see what we have to really work on.” 📈 – @PatsonDaka20
