CP FARMING POISED TO CHANGE -NANJUWA

(ZANIS) Central Province Minister, CREDO NANJUWA, says the transformation of smallholder farming is poised to be one of the key drivers of achieving the objectives of food security and poverty reduction in Central Province.

Speaking when he toured the Five Million United States Dollar Farmers’ Nest Investment at Kabwe Mall, Mr. NANJUWA said smallholder farmers account for between 60 to 80 percent of the food produced in the region but face many challenges that impede their pro
uctivity.

Mr. NANJUWA observed that lack of timely access to appropriate agricultural information and services, has resulted in poor decision-making, particularly in addressing challenges and responding effectively to opportunities.

He stressed that the establishment of the Farmers’ Nest, which will serve as a one stop centre for farmers, will ride on effective use of Information and Communication Technologies -ICTs-to improve accessibility to appropriate agricultural information and s
rvices.
