COVID-19 GROUNDS WOMEN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

The senior women national football team will not travel to Turkey to participate in the 8-Nation Invitational Tournament, scheduled for this week.

This after some players in the team tested positive for COVID-19.

FAZ General Secretary, Adrian Kashala has confirmed this in a statement availed to ZNBC Sports in Lusaka today.

Kashala says the team underwent some COVID-19 tests, with the results putting the trip into jeopardy.

He has reiterated that the decision has not been easy, but that FAZ always prioritizes the health of the players and technical staff at all times.

The Shepolopolo were scheduled to play Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan, during the Turkey 8-Nation Invitation Tournament.

Kashala however says the team’s preparations for the Tokyo Olympics are still in progress.
