COVID-19 CAUSES MENTAL HEALTH CASES TO RISE

Zambia has recorded an increase in mental illness cases since the dawn of Covid-19.

Ministry of Health Mental Health National Coordinator MWEENE NSELUKE says the rise in mental illness cases stem from different social, economic, physical and spiritual stress caused by Covid-19.

Dr. NSELUKE has however called on the general public to be aware of their mental state in order to prevent the devastating effects of unresolved mental illness.

In an interview with ZNBC News Dr. NSELUKE said it is important for the public to seek help once they notice any signs of mental health related problems.

Dr. NSELUKE adds that as the country commemorates the mental health awareness month, the Ministry of health is calling on all stakeholders to supplement efforts being made by government.
