Correctional services urged to transform inmates lives

By Lupindula Mwewa-North Western Province Permanent secretary Colonel GRANDSON KATAMBI has called on the Zambia Correctional Service in the Province to provide services that will transform inmates.

Colonel KATAMBI says inmates should be empowered with skills that will help in their transformation once they are reintegrated in society.

He has further challenged the Correctional service to treat inmates with respect while they are in their custody.

Speaking when he toured Lwamakanda Open Air Prison, Colonel KATAMBI said he is happy with the farming activities that are taking place at the facility.

Meanwhile, North Western Zambia Correctional Services Assistant Commissioner KUNKULA MWANGALA, said the province is cultivating three hundred and sixty five hectares of maize and one hundred and five hectares of Soya beans.

Mr. MWANGALA said the Correctional Service has increased its hectares of land being cultivated for soya beans as a way of diversifying from maize farming.
