Copper Queens off to South Africa for COSAFA Women’s Championship

Zambia Women National Team has left for South Africa this morning ahead of the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The 20 member squad left the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 08:15hours and is expected in South Africa shortly.

2020 Olympics qualification tournament (Africa) top goalscorer Grace Chanda leads the squad alongside fellow Olympians in goalkeeper Ngambo Musole, defender Vast Phiri, Lushomo Mweemba, and right back Margaret Belemu.

Zambia is in Group C alongside Eswatini, Namibia, and Uganda at the regional showpiece set to run from September 28-October 9 in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Copper Queens will face Eswatini in the opening Group C match on 30 September and their penultimate fixture will be against Namibia three days later while their final group campaign is against tournament guests Uganda on 5 October.
