Copper Queens declared ready as venue moves to Woodlands Stadium

The Copper Queens will this afternoon square off with the Mares of Botswana in an international friendly match.

The highly anticipated international friendly match will be staged at Woodlands Stadium instead of Nkoloma as earlier announced.

Copper Queens head coach Bruce Mwape has since declared his lasses ready for the match.

The team has a clean bill of health Mwape has confirmed. Lusaka Dynamos winger Siomala Mapepa had a minor knock but she has recovered is ready to play.

“The team is ready for the game against Botswana. The girls are ready and what people should expect to see tomorrow is new face especially upfront as we all aware that most of our strikers are playing abroad,” he said.

“The main aim of this game is to assess our local players and junior players so that we see who can challenge for positions in the team.”

“Only Siomala Mapepa has a minor injury but am sure she will be able to play tomorrow,” he added.

The Mares and the Copper Queens will play each other on Friday (tomorrow) at Woodlands Stadium in the first of two international friendly matches.

Both teams have qualified for the Morocco 2022 Africa Cup of Nations and are using the two friendly matches to prepare for the biggest continental showpiece.

Charges have been pegged at K20 open wing and K100 VIP.
