Concourt Petitioned

Hector Simfukwe-The Institute of Law, Policy Research and Human Rights Limited has petitioned the Constitutional Court to order the Judicial Service Commission to indentify and recommend qualified people to be appointed as Judges of various courts in Zambia.

The Petitioner says failure to do so is unlawful and unconstitutional.

The Constitutional Court has further been asked to compel the President to fill in all the vacancies in the superior courts in order to comply with the Constitution.

The organization also wants the costs for this matter to be borne by the state.

This is according to the petition filed in the Constitutional Court by the Institute.
