Green Buffaloes Women’s football club President Col Priscilla Katoba on Friday donated masks, hand sanitizer and breast holders to the ten Copper Queens from the Zambia army sponsored side.

Green Buffaloes Club secretary Sergeant Kelvin Bwalya Mwansa handed over the donation to the players at Arakan Barracks.

The players who benefited from the donation are the Hazel Nali, Anita Mulenga, Lushomo Mweemba, Martha Tembo, Judith Zulu, Theresa Chewe, Mary Mwakapila, Irene Lungu, Rachel Nachula and Barbara Banda.

Copper Queens captain Barbara Banda expressed gratitude to Col Katoba for the donation while striker Rachel Nachula confirmed to the ZamFoot Crew that the Copper Queens players had been given a training program to help them keep fit during this time.

“First and foremost I would like to say thank you to the Chairlady for the donation and we are grateful to her,” Banda said.

“We have been given training programs from our coaches and everything is going okay. We are looking forward to training as a team soon,” Nachula said.

Meanwhile, Col Katoba said the donation was aimed at helping the Copper Queens players stay safe as they conduct individual training sessions as they have important assignments ahead of them.

“The whole idea is to make sure these players who are key to the Copper Queens set up are protected from Coronavirus and at the same time able to keep fit and stay in shape because we have tournaments like COSAFA, AWCON (including qualifiers) and the Olympics next year,” she said.

The ten players are part of the Bruce Mwape tutored Zambia Women’s national team that made history two months ago by booking a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
