CIVIL SERVICE PAY SLIPS GO ELECTRONIC

Government says the cost of processing salaries in the civil service has reduced to zero from 72 million Kwacha following the introduction of electronic pay slips.
Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet E-government division, Martin Mtonga disclosed this in Mongu when he held a meeting with District Commissioners and Heads of Government Departments.
Dr. Mtonga said out of the 209,000 Civil Servants on government payroll, 202,000 have so far been captured on electronic pay slips and the remaining 7,000 have up to December to rectify their details.
He said from the time President Edgar Lungu took a stance to run an electronic government, cabinet meetings are now full-time e -cabinet, a move that has helped reduce the annual budget on cabinet meetings from 68 million Kwacha to 10.2 million Kwacha this year.
He said e -government is one of President Lungu’s systematic ways of curbing corruption.
Dr. M’tonga said it is the hope of government that by 2020 all district hospitals should be paperless.
The E-government National Coordinator also handed over a Nissan Hard Body valued at 270,000 Kwacha to the provincial network officer for use in the roll out of the e government program.
