Christine Mwale- an eleven-year-old fan favorite at Msisi Queens

With the Copper Queens doing so well at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morrocco, Women’s football in the country is finally receiving some much-needed attention.

The ZamFoot now looks at one of the youngest players in the Lusaka Provincial Women’s League, Christine Mwale, a fan favorite at Msisi Queens.

Mwale is an 11- year old player with so much skill who plays Misisi Queens United, a team that plays in the FAZ Lusaka Women’s Provincial League.

Christine who is nicknamed Kanono because of her small stature is a household name in Misisi and of course a fan’s favorite player.

Each time she’s in action, Mwale has proved to be a marvel to watch with excellent dribbling skills always sending local fans into a frenzy.

Having started on a high note in the first round of the just-ended Women’s League including scoring a decisive winning goal for Misisi who edged Stubborn Young YASA 1-nil away in Mtendere, Christine missed a couple of matches due to illness.

However, Kanono came back in the second round and managed to score 5 goals in total in the league for the Coach Musanide drilled lasses who finished 7th in the league last season and were one of the teams to beat.

Msisi is one of the four teams in the previous season that managed to hold Unstoppable and eventual Champions ZANACO to a draw via a 1-1 scoreline.

Christine’s favorite jersey number is 8 and she told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview that she likes 8 at the same time she wears 17 in the absence of former Zambia Under-17 starlet Cindy Banda because she wants to be scoring goals like Cindy does while donning jersey number (17).

Misisi will be hoping to start their 2022/23 season soon and their management is calling upon all the interested female footballers to feel free and join the team that is based in Misisi and their home venue is Katwishi Ground.
