CHITOTELA ,CHILANGWA CASE FAILS TO TAKE OFF

(ZANIS)The case in which Pambashe Member of Parliament, RONALD CHITOTELA and his Kawambwa Central counterpart, NICKSON CHILANGWA with five others are facing various offences has failed to take off in the Kawambwa Subordinate Court.

The matter could not take off in the Kawambwa Subordinate Court because the docket which the Police submitted to the National Prosecution Authority had not yet been taken to court for commencement of trial.

This is in a matter the two former Ministers in the PF Government and five other accused persons have been charged with arson, malicious damage to property, threatening violence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm on August 12, 2021.

It is alleged that the two lawmakers and five others on the material day while acting together in Kawambwa assaulted four UPND members, damaged the windscreen of the Mahindra motor vehicle before setting it ablaze and threatened violence.

The case has since been adjourned to December 10, 2021 for mention.

Mr. CHITOTELA and Mr. CHILANGWA and five others are being represented by lawyers JONAS ZIMBA, ANDREW KOMBE and BENJAMIN MWEWA.
