CHITALU CHILUFYA WALKS FREE FROM HONEYBEE CASE

Former Health Minister CHITALU CHILUFYA has been discharged in a matter where he and seven others were charged with  conspiracy to defraud government of more than  17 million dollars.

This follows the withdrawal of the case by the state before Chief Resident Magistrate DAVIES CHIBWILI.

The case was in connection with the supply and delivery of 22,500 Health Center Kits by Honey bee to the Ministry of Health.

Dr. CHILUFYA was  jointly charged with former Attorney General, LIKANDO KALALUKA, former Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, KAKULUBELWA MULALELO and Procurement Officer at the Ministry of Mines, WILSON LUNGU and EMMANUEL MUBANGA, a Pharmacist..

Others are Honeybee Pharmacy Limited directors, ABDURRAUF MOTALA, ZAKIR MOTALW  and IMRAN LUNAT.

It was alleged that between January 2019 and December 2020, the seven defrauded the government off 17 million dollars, through a contract for the supply and delivery of 22,500 Health Center Kits.
